Hythe – in 1866

The map section above, considerably enlarged, is taken from the First Edition of the Ordnance Survey map printed in 1866.

Triangulation commenced in 1794 and was completed in the early 1800s. The map was then updated, mainly with railway information, at intervals until 1864.

The main roads have not altered all that much; compare with the modern map.
