Pub History

At one time Hythe seemed to have a public house for every resident – sadly the number today is greatly diminished. The pubs we do have are full of history; so read on, then come and inspect for yourself… In the name of historical research of course.

One of the oldest pubs in Hythe is the Lord Nelson, dating back to 1801 and named in honour of Admiral Nelson and commemorating his victories at the Battle of the Nile in 1798 and Copenhagen in 1801. Read the full history.
