Waterside Musical Society will bring the World Premiere of the brand new musical, Act Your Age to the Waterside Theatre on 8th November.
This brilliant new show is the work of local composer and songwriter Christopher Wortley who called on TV writer Brian Clemens to assist on the storyline.
Brian is best known for The Avengers and The Professionals but it was his experience as a writer of West End comedy that was needed for Act Your Age.
Commissioned by Waterside Musical Society, the show includes 20 brand new songs, some elements of farce, lots of laughs and a happy ending.
Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber have both sent their best wishes to the Society and this premiere production promises to be a big success.
To help ensure success an impressive production team has been lined up. Guest Musical Director Ian Peters is a familiar figure in Southampton and Bournemouth and with more than 20 Curtain Call Award nominations brings a wealth of experience to the team. Christobel Thomas, the show’s Director, has worked in amateur theatre for over 20 years and most recently has directed Pirates of Penzance, Oklahoma and Chess.
Talented designer Alan Vicarey has been responsible for more than 30 productions and received his latest award nomination earlier this year for the Society’s record-breaking production of Scrooge-The Musical. Actor and director Mark Ponsford, well known for his comic solo shows, has also contributed to the production.
Society members are thrilled to be the first ever team to turn the words and notes into a show and this is a chance for Waterside audiences to share in the thrill of a real world premiere.
Act Your Age will be at the Waterside Theatre, Holbury from 8th – 11th November 2006 and tickets are available now from 023 8084 8529. |
