Police are appealing for witnesses and urging members of the public to follow crime prevention advice after a car was broken into in Hythe.
The incident occurred between 4.05pm and 4.15pm on Monday May 10 at the Busketts Lawn car park in Bartley Road.
A woman parked her Honda HRV at the location and placed her handbag under the front passenger seat before locking her car.
As she left the car to walk her dog she noticed a man acting suspiciously and observed movement around her vehicle. She immediately returned to her car and discovered the front passenger window had been smashed and her handbag had been stolen.
PC James Foster said:
“We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area of the Busketts Lawn car park around the time of the incident and who may have witnessed any suspicious people or activity.
“The New Forest is a beautiful place to visit but sadly there are a small number of opportunistic criminals operating in the area.
“I would urge visitors to ensure they leave their cars secure and that they remove all of their valuables to prevent becoming the victim of crime.”
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact PC James Foster at Hythe police station on 101. Alternatively you can call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111. |
