New Forest residents are invited to join the Garden Waste Collection Service 2010/11 and have all their garden waste taken away direct from home.
The service, run by New Forest District Council, provides householders with a durable garden waste sack and offers a fortnightly kerbside collection.
The sack can be filled with grass and hedge cuttings, weeds, twigs and leaves.
It costs £26 a year for the first bag and £15 for each additional bag.
The charge has been frozen for the third year running to encourage more people to join.
The garden waste sack cannot be used to dispose of soil, concrete or stones, fruit and vegetable peelings, food scraps, coal ash, animal waste, household waste, flower pots, trays or plastics.
All the garden waste collected is taken to a composting facility to be turned into Pro-Grow, a high-grade soil conditioner that is available to purchase from the Household Waste Recycling Centres.
NFDC environment portfolio holder Cllr Edward Heron, said: “The council’s garden waste collection scheme is a cost-effective and convenient way of disposing of your garden debris – I would encourage all forest householders to sign up for the service.”
Residents can join the Garden Waste Collection Service: online at www.newforest.gov.uk/gardenwaste or call NFDC Customer Services on 01590 646123, visit any of the council’s local information offices or return the application form (available from any local information office) with payment.
