Greg aged 41, Rachel aged 40 and daughters Lulu and Sophie aged 6.5 and 1.5 respectively won a competition which the council launched to find three families that would act as citizen journalists by reviewing the council’s sites and attractions.
Over the next twelve months the Brown family will be using their Culture-all Passport – which they won as part of the competition – to visit Hampshire’s country parks, art centres, libraries, discovery centres and museums, and then reporting back about their experiences on the Culture-all website:
www.hants.gov.uk/culture-all.
Rachel Brown commented on her exciting challenge ahead:
“We are really happy to be a Culture-all family because we love exploring Hampshire - there’s so much to do! We can give an insight into attractions from the perspective of a toddler and 6 year old and couple of 40-something year olds. We love exploring the countryside and visiting museums, especially places with hands-on activities like dressing up!”
In addition to giving their views on our sites, they’ll also let you know about any events they’ve been to and what they think of them.
Executive Member for Culture and Recreation, Councillor Margaret Snaith-Tempia said:
“This is a great way for people to get a true account of what real families think of our sites. The Brown family submitted a fantastic application that really made them stand out as winners and I can’t wait to read their reviews. I hope they embark on an exciting adventure over the next twelve months and visit some new and fascinating places that meet all their family needs.”
The two other families that were chosen to take part in the Culture-all project are the Moore-Morton family from Andover and the Buttivant and Hagger family from Liss.
The website will be updated monthly with a new report from each family, but you can access more regular posts and chat about what they’re doing on our Twitter stream (www.twitter.com/cultureall) and you can see lots more photos of our families’ adventures on our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/culture-all). |
