Police are appealing for information after a man in his 70s was robbed in Pylewell Road, Hythe at approximately 4.45pm on Thursday, May 14.
The man was approached by a group of two boys and a girl who pushed the man through a shop window before stealing his bag which contained dried fruit and a bunch of flowers.
The man sustained serious cuts to his hands and leg which required treatment at Southampton General Hospital.
The group were described as white and 18-20 years of age. The boys were of skinny build and wearing hooded tops.
The girl had short bleached blonde hair, gold hoop earrings and was wearing a hooded top with a t-shirt underneath and dark trousers.
DC Luke Donovan said:
“This is a horrendous attack on an older gentleman. We need to identify three youths seen running away from the scene immediately after the incident.
“Anyone who may have seen what happened, found a bag discarded nearby, or knows who is responsible for this incident should contact police.”
