New Hythe homes on former pub site
A brand new housing development will be officially opened on the site of the former Waterside Inn at Hythe next Tuesday 2nd October.

The six one-bedroomed and six two-bedroomed flats at Marine Court, near the junction of Jones Lane and Southampton Road, have been completed through a partnership scheme involving New Forest District Council, the Swaythling Housing Society which is part of the Radian Group, and Linden Homes.

Most of the eight shared-ownership properties are now under offer and all four of the flats for general need rent have been allocated.

They have been completed at a time of considerable housing need in the New Forest district, with 5,395 applicants on the Council’s housing needs register and Hythe and its surrounding Waterside area is one of the high areas of need for all types of housing.

New Forest District Council’s housing portfolio holder Jill Cleary, who will open the development on Tuesday, October 9 (2pm) described the project as “a great example of partnership working.”

She added: “It is a mixed scheme that integrates market and affordable homes. They are built to a high standard with excellent finishes and all meet Eco Homes ‘very good’ rating and Housing Corporation Scheme development standards.”

The properties are within easy walking distance of Hythe’s shopping centre, and waterfront and convenient for buses and ferries to Southampton.
