Police remind members of the public not to give out their PIN

Police in the New Forest, Eastleigh and Test Valley are reminding residents never to give their bank account personal identification number (PIN) to anyone.

Following a number of reports over the past few weeks members of the public are asked to be extra cautious.

Officers have received reports of telephone callers claiming to be a police officer and asking for a PIN to confirm the person’s identity.

Members of the public are reminded that police officers will not ask for a PIN under any circumstances.

Anyone who is suspicious of a telephone caller requesting a PIN should contact their local station on 0845 045 45 45, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
