Man with severe injuries airlifted to Hospital from Hythe Marina
A young man with severe leg injuries was airlifted by Coastguard Rescue helicopter 'India Juliet' from Hythe Marina in Southampton Water.

Solent Coastguard was alerted by '999' telephone call at 4:25 p.m. from a vessel close to Hythe Marina, stating that they were assisting a person with leg injuries in the water.

The man is understood to have sustained the traumatic amputation of one leg and of part of the other leg in Southampton Water.
Hampshire Police are on scene and are carrying out an investigation.

The man, along with two paramedics, one of whom is a Coastguard Rescue Officer, have been airlifted to Southampton General Hospital. Colin Griffiths, Watch Manager at Solent Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centre, says: "The scale of the injuries to this person is rare in our experience; our thoughts are with him and his family at this time."
