Royal Caribbean International’s Freedom of the Seas, the world’s largest and most innovative cruise ship will make her UK debut in Southampton for the Bank Holiday, visiting the docks between 29th April and 3rd May 2006.

The 160,000 tonne ship, taller than London’s Oxo Tower and longer than 37 double-decker buses, will arrive at the City Cruise Terminal at 9am on Saturday 29th April.

Freedom of the Seas will receive many media and travel industry visitors onboard, showcasing her impressive and world-class features including the first-ever onboard surf park, the ‘FlowRider’, the tallest onboard rock climbing wall and the largest at sea fitness centre.

Keen ship spotters are invited to admire her from the Mayflower Park where they will also be able to enjoy a celebratory fireworks display taking place at 10.30pm, just before she sets sail for a one-night cruise with invited guests at 10.45pm.

Freedom of the Seas returns to the City Terminal at 6am on Sunday 30th April, where she will berth overnight and host another firework display at 8.30pm, which can also be viewed from the Mayflower Park.

On Monday, 1st May, a final firework display will take place at 10.30pm, before she sets sail for a two-night cruise with her invited guests. Freedom of the Seas will make her final return to Southampton on Wednesday 3rd May, docking for a few hours before making an 11am departure for her Atlantic crossing to Cape Liberty, New York where her official naming will take place later in the week.

Jo Rzymowska, sales and marketing director – UK & Ireland of Royal Caribbean International comments: “We are delighted that Freedom of the Seas will make her UK debut in Southampton.  Southampton’s heritage makes it the perfect place to introduce the world’s largest and most innovative cruise ship - we’re sure Freedom of the Seas will get a great reception.  It’s a wonderful chance for ship and sail enthusiasts or anyone with an interest in the ocean to get a first-hand view of Royal Caribbean International’s new record-breaking vessel.’
