Young footballers have won more than matches, with the award
of a £1,000 grant for their club.
The money has been donated under a special scheme designed to
recognise the efforts of ExxonMobil employees and their families
who contribute their time, talent and energy to schools, charities
and non-profit making organisations.
The scheme not only helps local organisations, but also improves
the links between ExxonMobil and the local community.
The Hythe and Dibden Youth Football Club Under 18s, based in Jones
Lane, Hythe, has spent the money on a new kit, match and training
balls and most importantly professional training for their coach.
Development engineer with ExxonMobil Chemical and also recipient
of the grant for the club, Russell Martin said: “The team simply
wouldn’t be able to operate without sponsorship of this sort.
All the youngsters in the club are under 18 and get
a huge amount of satisfaction out of playing football
competitively.”
The ExxonMobil Volunteer Involvement Programme has so
far contributed more than £100,000 to local community
projects, since it was started two years ago.
