Birds in Hythe Homepage
Bird watching is not an activity that one associates with Hythe but we are very lucky in that Hythe has some unique areas that make a birding trip well worthwhile.

The foreshore along Shore Road is a Spartina Marsh while just inland – behind Shore Road – is a marshy, heavily-reeded area where a stream flows out into the estuary.

The Dibden Bay area is home to vast numbers of waders and shore-side birds. Although Associated British Ports do not allow free access to this area there is a "bandstand" within the Hythe marina that overlooks the reclaimed land and a public footpath runs from just outside the Marina entrance round the edge of Dibden Bay to Veals Lane.

So what can you expect to see around Hythe? The following article by Dave Nutbeam will whet your appetite… Illustrations are courtesy of Alain Fossé.
