The Invisible WomanTuesday 15 July - The Invisible Woman

It's 1857, and Frances Ternan (Kristin Scott Thomas) and her teenage daughter Nelly (Felicity Jones) are performing in a Manchester production of The Frozen Deep, a melodrama by Wilkie Collins (Tom Hollander). The play is being directed by Charles Dickens (Ralph Fiennes). The 45-year-old author is immensely popular as a novelist, a public speaker and an advocate for the poor and downtrodden in English society. He has been married for years to Catherine (Joanna Scanlan) who has worn herself out running his home and bearing his ten children.  Weary of his wife, and struck by Nelly’s intelligence and youthful beauty, Dickens makes his feelings known. And though fearing social disgrace if the affair gets out, Ellen finds the attentions of the world’s most famous writer impossible to resist…
