Despite some difficult stock market conditions the value of the Charity’s portfolio stood at £8,727,000 reported Chairman Mike Harvey when he welcomed over 90 people to the annual Open Day Lunch at St. Andrews.
As a consequence of a continuing healthy income the charity was able to help over 600 individuals (£209,376) and 39 Organisations (£86,944).
Income was fully allocated, plus, from reserves, £100,000 towards Hythe United Reformed Church refurbishment to provide services under the ‘Families Matter’ umbrella.
More recently together with Hythe & Dibden Parish Council and the Hythe Marina Association the Charity contributed £24k to the all steel skate park in Jones Lane.
Young users of the facility have themselves secured a further £1,500 from the Youth Opportunities Fund.
Mike thanked all those who had assisted the Trustees in bringing to their attention individuals in need and projects to support.
Simon Wainman from ‘Students Exploring Marriage’ charity also spoke to the gathering of his experiences in Hampshire Schools.
In 10 years the charity has engaged with 18,000 young people (95% of whom aspire to a long term relationship), in 21 schools.
The aim is to assist students gain a deeper understanding of what commitment in a long-term relationship entails.
The charity contributed £550 towards the seminar costs at two local schools.
Recently the Girl Guides Waterside Division received £1,170 towards the cost of carpeting their centre at Gang Warily.
Waterside Baton Twirlers received £500 towards uniform and kit.
Blackfield Primary School was granted £15,000 towards fitting out their Sports Hall planned for the Spring.
The well-used fleet of mini buses at Hythe Community Centre is in need of a new vehicle and the Trustees have granted £20,000 toward a £45,000 requirement.
The ‘It’s Your Choice’ service to young people received a grant of £5,000. |
